This was the VNAIC´s 24th annual presentation of the Loving Care Awards. It is our way of recognizing some very special people for the extraordinary loving care they have given to a family member, friend, or their community. The Board of Directors named these awards the John L. Treadway Loving Care Awards in memory of Mr. Treadway´s many years of service to the Visiting Nurse Association of the Inland Counties.
BANNING
The Banning recipient was Donna Smith Burgess. She helped her father in his final journey with Alzheimers disease.
BARSTOW
The Barstow recipient was Brenda Folden. Brenda left her full time job to become her grandmothers daytime caregiver. She is committed to making sure her grandparents every need is met while preserving her grandmothers dignity and function.
MURRIETA
The The Murrieta recipients were Kathryn Hurley and Cheryl Hanlyn. Kathlyn Hurley came from out of state to live with and take care of her gravely ill younger sister Rene.
PALM DESERT
The Palm Desert Home Health recipient was Marilyn McConnell. The care that Marilyn has provided for her husband Jimmy is a shining example of love and devotion.
RIVERSIDE
The Riverside Hospice Programs recipients were Vicki Haner and her children, Courtney, Morgan and Austin. When young father and husband William Haner was diagnosed with cancer, his wife Vicki, her daughters Courtney and Morgan and son Austin did everything they could do to help him fight a courageous battle for over two years.
VICTORVILLE
The Victorville Home Health Program recipient was Matthew Ahlheim. Matthew is a remarkable young man. At age 15 Matthew has been the primary caregiver for both of the parents.
Yucca Valley
The Yucca Valley recipient was Jimeen Cleveland. With Jimeens busy life raising children, dedicating her time to the Way Station, for the homeless and serving on the pastoral staff for Victory Christian Center, she took on the added responsibility of caring for her mother Alicia for many years.
